TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION

Technology developed at Université de Sherbrooke and at Université de Poitiers to reduce tonal noise from subsonic axial fan.

The technology is based on the rotor/stator interaction mechanisms. The optimal axial and circumferential location of the obstruction generates a secondary noise of equal magnitude but opposite in phase with respect to the primary tonal noise. Thus the tonal noise is reduced.   More obstructions can be used to control more than one tonal noise without affecting the fan performance.
