CONTEXT
Nanometre size inorganic materials exhibit a wide range of electrical and optical properties that depend on composition, size, shape, and surface ligands and are of both fundamental and technological interest. Well documented procedures to grow zero dimensional soluble particles. Interestingly, 2D semiconductor crystals, so called quantum wells, of II-VI and III-V semiconductors have been synthesized only by epitaxial growth on substrate using MBE for example. The synthesis of 2D colloidal nanocrystals, nanoplatelets or nanodisks, is limited to few examples of metal and lanthanide-oxides materials as well as Cu and NiS.
