TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
This invention describes the use of the natural tetrapeptide AcSDKP isolated from bone marrow in skin care treatment. It has been shown that topical application of AcSDKP on human skin explants increases the thickness of the epidermis and induces the synthesis of collagen III and IV, fibronectin, glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) as well as keratins 14 and 19, all elements which are important in the maintenance of healthy skin. These effects were observed after only 6 days of treatment. Thus, AcSDKP possesses anti-aging benefits by inducing cell rejuvenation and renewal of the skin indicating that it is an effective skin care remedy and cosmetic aid with revitalizing and restorative action. AcSDKP can also be used to improve post-treatment skin recovery after dermatological skin renewal procedures, such as chemical peels or laser resurfacing. AcSDKP could be applied either alone or in combination with other compounds approved for slowing down skin aging and preventing wrinkles. In addition, from the industrial point of view, the rapid and low-cost chemical synthesis of AcSDKP has an important advantage.
