CONTEXT

The construction of co-crystals between Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs)  and co-crystal formers allows the modification of the physico-chemical and bio-availabity parameters of the API. Thus the availability of the API may be optimised. A second point concerns the fact that the Industrial Property of an API is dependent on the the state of matter, ie the crystal state, evidently the formation of a co-crystal changes the crystal state and hence the PI. Currently the formation of co-crystals involves seraching data bases to generate matches between the structural parameters of the API anf potential co-crystal formers a painstaking operation.
