TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
This invention describes a device for directional optical coupling which is selective for wavelength. Coupling is performed between two parallel waveguides separated by a coupling zone that allows extraction of a specific frequency. The signal is injected into the fundamental mode of the waveguide and the specific frequency is extracted by coupling the fundamental mode with a higher order mode of each waveguide. The coupling zone is performed using photonic crystal technology.
