MANUFACTURE OF ZINC OXIDE THIN FILMS AND OTHER INDIUM, CADMIUM, AND GALLIUM BASED LAYERS BY ELECTRODEPOSITION
Principal Investigator: D. LINCOT
TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION

This invention describes a process to grow thin layers of zinc oxide with low temperature electrolysis in water (from a few nanometres to a few microns). The process is very simple and robust, it can be used to treat small or large areas. It is adapted to roll industrial deposition. The layers are well crystallized and their morphology, from dense films to open structures made of arrays of single crystalline microcolumns' can be controlled by simply playing with the electrodeposition parameters and the bath composition. The films are highly transparent in the visible region when deposited as dense layers. In the other cases' films strongly produce light scattering effects. Films are conducting, with n-type conductivity. Conductivity can be modified. Other films based on cadmium, indium, and Gallium can be deposited with the same technique.
