TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
This invention describes the development of human immortalized preadipocytes. After removal of brown adipose tissue from an 18 month old child with nephroblastoma, preadipocytes were isolated, cultured and immortalized with antigen T of SV40. 50 % of cultured transformed preadipocytes were shown to differentiate after 15 to 20 days of treatment, there were numerous lipid droplets and they expressed various genes characteristic of differentiated adipocytes (adipsine, adrenergic receptors, hormone sensitive lipase, etc.).
