TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
The following invention describes the combination of two specific materials (dense perovskite disc and high surface VMgO surface modifier) by a specific method in a membrane reactor for producing olefins from alkenes, in particular, an improved membrane reactor and a method for oxidative deshydrogenation of ethane at an intermediate temperature (T= 600-800). This invention is related to a surface modification of the membrane with sub micrometers (<100nm) of VMgO grains and BaSr FeCo oxide by a specific method to reach a high coverage rate of the dense oxide by VmgO grains, with enhanced micro structural stability on the surface and improved surface properties as well as with enhanced oxygen permeability. This invention uses a durable ceramic material which is easier to assemble in a reactor because there is no need to add a catalytic bed or layer on top. This invention provides a modified ceramic material that facilitates oxidation of a fluid with better results than existing methods. This modified ceramic has a higher conversion rate of alkanes (ethane to ethylene) using air as an oxygen feed stream, than bare membranes. Lower temperatures can be used (150°C lower) than for bare membranes. At T<775°C, the surface modification of the membrane improves the oxygen transport stability in time.
