TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
ESPript, Easy Sequencing in PostScript, is a software program that generates useful graphical representations from pre-aligned amino acid sequences. Via a simple web interface, the user can upload a multiple alignment file, that has been obtained from the application of his choice (a large panel of formats is accepted: FASTA, CLUSTALW...). ESPript then generates a complete PostScript figure showing: conserved residues, secondary structure elements, accessibility, hydropathy and intermolecular contacts. For a demonstration: click here. The inventors also created ENDscript, an interface associating ESPript. It enables the creation from a single PDB identifier, of a multiple sequence alignment figure adorned with secondary structures elements of each sequence of known structure. Similar 3D structures are superimposed in turn and a final figure is drawn, which shows sequence and structure conservation along the Ca trace of the query. Thus, this "all-in-one" tool enables the user to relate quickly 1D, 2D and 3D information of a protein.
