CONTEXT
Galanthamine
is an alcaloide isolated from Amaryllidaceae
acting as a competitive, selective and reversible inhibitor of
acetylcholinesterase. This compound has been used for few years as it enhanced
Alzheimer patients cognitive functions. Current methods of obtaining are either extraction
from different type of Amaryllidaceae
but only in low quantity or biomimetic or non biomimetic synthesis. These last methods are known to be
expensive, long and not efficient. Therefore, as the market linked to the
Galanthamine and its derivatives as well as analogues tends to increase, there
is a demand nowadays for a cost-effective, fast and easy method.
