TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
Researchers have identified a new receptor from the ß-Adrenergic family, called the ß-3 receptor which can be expressed in a host (unicellular such as E. Coli, cell lines such as CHO, etc...). ß-3 receptors are involved in the lipolly cell pathway, particularly in adipose cells, and in the control of energy balance. These receptors are mutated in some obese patients, suggesting that this could be a factor of genetic predisposition to obesity.
