ENVIRONMENTALY AND FINANCIALLY FRIENDLY PESTICIDE : PROCESS TO SYNTHESIZE GLYCEROL DITHIOCARBAMATE |

CONTEXT
Dithiocarbamates
coordinated with metal such as Zinc, Iron, Sodium and Manganese are widely used
as pesticides and fungicides but are also known to be toxic and hardly biodegradable.
As a consequence, it has been developed new dithiocarbamates whose metals are
substituted by natural polyols such as glycerol withdrawing therefore any
negative effects coming from metals. Glycerol dithiocarbamates show good
properties as pesticides and fungicides and also offer better biocompatibility.
It already exists ways to produce glycol
dithiocarbamates but all of them present financial and environmental
disadvantages. As a consequence, there is therefore a demand for a simple process
that meets with industrial requirements in terms of finance and environment.
