This invention is focused on a novel, important and potentially targetable cytoskeleton protein of Trypanosoma brucei, a parasitic protist. The flagellum is required for locomotion, organelle segregation and cell size regulation in trypanosomes. The flagellar pocket (FP) is an essential cytoplamic invagination of the pellicular membrane and sole site of endo- exocytosis in trypanosomes. It is formed around the base of the flagellum.
