TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
This invention describes a magneto optic / eddy current imager providing quantitative images of the inspected parts. The imager is based on eddy currents and Faraday effects. The provided images represent the true measurement (in magnitude and phase) of the magnetic field on the surface of the inspected part. Therefore interpretation of images is easier and faster than the MOI developed and commercialized by PRI. Furthermore the images allow further signal processing to be implemented, such as 3D inversion, for thorough defect characterization. The method is fast and the device provides wide picture(s) (25 mm diameter in the first prototype, 76 mm diameter under development).
