TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
This device is a wet electrostatic scrubber-like particle filter. The collectors are sprays of strongly, electrically charged demineralized water droplets produced by an electrohydrodynamic atomisation process. Pollutant particles (neutral or electrically charged) are injected into the sprays and collected on the electrically charged droplets. A minimum efficiency of 99% can be achieved with sub-micron sized particles (0.1 µm < diameter < 1 µm) and for aerosol flow rates up to 1 m3.h-1, with a liquid flow rate of approximately 10-4 m3.h-1. These performances may be adjusted, based on the specifications and are similar to those of HEPA filters, but with limited maintenance (no more changing of filters) and weak and constant pressure drop.
