TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
The invention concerns a method for depolluting aqueous media containing organic pollutants difficult to oxidize by traditional methods. The method aims to reducing chemical oxygen demand and/or total organic carbon of an aqueous medium containing organic molecules. It consists in subjecting the aqueous medium to an electron beam generated by an electron accelerator, in the presence of a mineral catalyst, then eliminating the formed precipitates from the treated solution, said catalyst comprising a metal ion persulphate, and optionally an Fe(II) salt and an Fe(III) salt. The invention uses the synergetic effect between Fe and the persulfate which allows to improve the rate of the process by 3 to 8 depending on the quantity of mineral added.
