CHIMERIC SOLUBLE FAS LIGAND
Principal Investigator : J-L Taupin
TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION

The present invention relates to a chimeric soluble form of human Fas Ligand, named IgFasL. The chimera was generated by fusing the immunoglobulin (Ig)-like module of the LIF receptor to the amino-terminus of the full extracellular domain of human Fas ligand.
Fas or CD45 is a transmembrane receptor which belongs to the tumor necrosis factor receptor (TNFR) superfamily. Fas receptor triggers apoptosis via the caspase cascade when stimulated by its ligand FasL.
The inventors showed that the chimera is biologically active and has a direct cytotoxic activity via Fas receptor.
IgFasL does not require any “enhancing” or cross-linking intermediate to become active, as it is naturally produced by transfected CHO cells as a high molecular weight oligomer of FasL trimers.
