Indirubins are indol dimers which can be extracted from plants with indigo, from several molluscs and various bacterial. It was previously showed that indirubins act by inhibiting key enzymes of the regulation of the cellular cycle and cellular death, cyclines-dependant kinases (CDKs) and the glycogen synthase kinase-3 (GSK-3).

Displaying strong anti-proliferative and cell death-inducing effects, indirubins arouses great intesrest in different pharmaceutical areas.
