NEW MANNOPYRANOSIDE DERIVATIVES WITH ANTI TUMOR ACTIVITY

CONTEXT

Multiple pathologies involving angiogenesis process have been described in the state of the art. For instance, we can mention several cancers, diabetes-linked retinopathies, arthrosclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis and other inflammatory diseases or pathologies linked to delayed wound healing. Angiogenesis inhibition is a recent conceptual revolution for cancer treatment consisting in targeting vascular network that irrigate tumor. It is now well established that the development of intra or peritumoral vascularisation is a key event for tumor growth as well for metastatic dissemination. Drugs have been developed to inhibit this phenomenon, like VEGF neutralizing molecules but are associated to side effects like hypertension, tiredness and skin problems. Besides, currently used molecules with angiogenesis inhibitory properties show high toxicity, usually prohibitive to carry on the treatment. This toxicity limits the duration and the efficiency of the current medications. There is a constant and extremely important need to develop new angiogenesis inhibitory compounds with low toxicity and of better affinity for receptors in order to offer new anti tumor drugs with high anti tumor activity. The present invention replies to this need and avoids the problems encountered previously.
