TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
The present invention relates to substituted dithiobisnitrobenzenes (dithiobisnitrobenzylamines, dithiobisnitrobenzamides or dithionitrophenacyles) as alternative substrates of NAD(P)H-dependent disulphide-reductase enzymes.
These Enzymes, thioredoxin reductase, lipoamide dehydrogenase or trypanothion reductase, are critical for protection against oxidative stress. Because the natural substrates of these enzymes are difficult to synthesize, dithiobisnitrobenzenes could be used to screen inhibitors of these enzymes.
The invention also describes an enzymatic test using the substrates as well as an assay kit containing them.
