TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
This invention describes a characterized protein that comprises or consists of the sequence of the mouse or human MCH-Gene-Overprinted-Polypeptide (MGOP), or any homologous sequence or fragment of the sequences defined above.
The invention also includes nucleotide sequences coding for a protein as defined above and the use of one of the proteins for preparing drugs for treating diseases related to nutritional behaviour, obesity and immunological disease.
Also disclosed are the amino sequences of the putative precursors of human and mouse MGOP. Finally, the invention describes methods to purify and to test the effects of MGOP on cell migration and of MGOP antiserum on neuropeptide secretion.
