CELL-PROLIFERATION INHIBITING VPg PROTEINS
Principal Investigator: Jadwiga CHROBOCZEK

CONTEXT

Many scientific works showed that high levels of eukaryotic initiation factor eIF4E can cause cell growth and malignant transformation. Thus, there is an interest in the development of adequate eIF4E binding agents for use in anti-cancer therapy.

Recent studies have reported an interaction between the cap-binding protein eIF4E and genome-linked VPg protein of certain Potyviruses, a plant family viruses.
