XRP44X inhibits tumour growth and metastasis in animal models (tumour cell lines and nude mice), and particularly it inhibits human prostate cancer cell metastasis as efficiently as combretastatin A4. XRP44X inhibits tumour growth when it is used in a preventative or a curative regimen. In addition, we have identified gene expression changes induced by XRP44X that can be used to understand the molecular mechanisms of XRP44X activity, and to follow treatment efficacy in the clinic.
Our objective is to develop the compound XRP44X as a new anti-cancer agent, by testing its efficacy in pre-clinical models of cancer growth and metastasis, especially prostate cancer.
