Online soot sensing, for usage in vehicle motor management

OVERVIEW

Due to stringent worldwide legislations about reduction of particulate matter in exhaust gas, the
measurements of soot content in exhaust gas systems is an important issue for the online motor
management system of a vehicle.
Many of these technologies have been protected by the automotive industry, but none are entirely
satisfying. None can meet all constraints (temperature, pressure...) and requirements (reliability, nature of
exhaust...) for a low cost. Thus, cost of manufacturing such components will automatically add to the price
of new cars.
