TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
The inventors have described the identification and biochemical characterization of MCM8, and MCM2-7-related protein, which is widely conserved in vertebrates. MCM8 functions as a DNA helicase at replication forks during the elongation step of DNA synthesis and may have a similar role in other vertebrates.
