TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
This invention describes a device for adapting the spot-size of an optical mode propagating in a first waveguide when injected into a second waveguide with different propagation conditions. The invention makes use of Photonic Crystal to convert the incident optical mode into the appropriate propagating mode in the second medium.
