TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
This invention describes a new heterogeneous catalyst for the oxidation of prochiral compounds, in particular for the asymmetric epoxidation of allylic alcohols. Solid catalyst includes tantalum grafted on silica and a chiral-diol based compound. It can be easily isolated and efficiently recycled because tantalum remains on the support. This catalyst can be used in a continuous process.
