CONTEXT

The abnormal proliferation of the pancreatic α-cells not only can be seen in the lesions developed among patients with multiple neoplasia endocrine type 1 (MEN1), but also plays an important role in the pathogenesis of the diabetes. The presence of a compartment of the proliferative pancreatic α-cells in the current mouse model makes this model particularly useful both for the screening of anti-cancer drugs against the proliferation of these cells and for the new strategies of diabetes treatment.
